At the international film festival, Hollywood legend Michael Douglas will present an award in NFT and cryptocurrency

The fourth annual Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival awarded a film by German director André Divish with $30,000 in cryptocurrencies, as well as a special NFT trophy signed by Oscar winners Michael Douglas and Juliette Binoche.

The film festival awarded the winners with NFTs and cryptocurrencies for the first time

Douglas, guest of honor at the 2022 festival, presented the director with the award during a virtual awards ceremony that was streamed on YouTube and hosted by Meihodo’s New York headquarters.

Designed for young and up-and-coming filmmakers, the Meihodo Festival is one of the largest short film festivals in the world, and this year the film festival rewarded winners with NFTs and cryptocurrencies for the first time.

“A big thank you to the Meihodo jury and committee for this honor, and thanks to my team and film supporters who made this possible. I am motivated to continue working on my current and future projects and I am delighted that this project has been so highly acclaimed.”

“We are overwhelmed by the diversity of talent we have seen this year,” said James Zhang, vice chairman of the festival, who expressed his gratitude to festival ambassador Frederic Golchan for bringing Meihodo’s executive committee together with major talents in the film industry.

“At Meihodo, we are always looking to the future of the film industry, and from what we saw at the festival this year, only the best is yet to come.”
