The South China Morning Post (SCMP) has released a white paper detailing its new NFT token metadata standard called Artifact. The standard will be used for the minting of historic NFTs, including the SCMP’s own inaugural NFT collection.
Description of the NFT token metadata standard
The SCMP said the Artifact metadata structure will be built on the Flow blockchain created by Dapper Labs, the creators of the popular NBA Top Shot NFT video. The Artifact white paper outlines the proposed governance structure as well as the development of a dedicated market for the sale of historic NFTs. SCMP, which was bought by Chinese tech giant Alibaba in 2016, first announced its plans to develop Artifact back in July.
“Through our Artifact white paper, we look forward to inspiring other ‘lore keepers’ to share our vision of how to make history more discoverable, connected and collectible,” said Gary Liu, CEO of SCMP, in a statement.
“We are proud that SCMP has launched this forward-looking project that brings historic moments to life, and we are delighted that they have chosen Flow as the foundation of the Artifact launch protocol,” said Mickey Maher, senior vice president of Partnerships, Dapper Labs.
