On Friday, blockchain platform Harmony announced the introduction of passports for holders of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT tokens. The passport will allow the holder to prove and import the token into the DeFi Kingdoms game on the Harmony protocol.

Initially, users will be able to verify their holdings on multiple blockchains by connecting their MetaMask wallet to the game.
Cross-chain technology is only at the initial stage of its development. Therefore, there are risks of losing funds when moving from one blockchain to another. The recent events of the large OpenSea platform have become proof of this.
The developers of Harmony reassure, assuring that the passport does not move assets, but confirms the ownership of assets in different blockchains. Harmony currently supports interaction with Ethereum, BNB Chain and three other blockchains.
Representatives of the Harmony platform stated:
“We wanted to give all NFT holders more options to withdraw their NFTs and participate in the metaverse. First of all, this concerns the owners of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT. Cross-chain identification creates a secure and easy way to do this without putting your assets at risk.”
A similar technology for creating passports has previously affected Twitter users. The developers have implemented the NFT avatars system. But since then, their system is still in the testing phase, and user NFTs are only supported on the single Ethereum blockchain.
It is not known whether the introduction of NFT passports into the cross-chain system will be approved. But Harmony hopes that in the future, their technology will lead to secure NFT transactions, as well as transfers from one blockchain to another.
