Siberian Medical University has released a collection of NFT tokens

Details about the Doctors are Heroes NFT collection

The Siberian State Medical University (SibSMU) expects to receive additional funding by issuing its own collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

“We follow new technologies not only in science, medicine and education, but also what today’s schoolchildren are interested in. Last year, we registered with TikTok, and now we are the first among Russian universities to release our official collection of NFT tokens. Thus, we want to draw the attention of the younger generation to the profession of a doctor, the role of medical workers in the modern world, and also replenish the financial fund of the university,” said Evgeny Kulikov, rector of the university.

According to him, the Doctors are Heroes collection includes four cartoon characters, symbolizing medical workers of various specializations.

“COVID-19 has shown very clearly which profession is the most significant for each of us. All medical workers are a team that has one common goal – to help people. And our applicants and students are future superheroes. We want it to inspire schoolchildren to choose medical specialties for their professional development,” said the rector.

The NFT collection project was created by the university team with the involvement of students, applicants and schoolchildren. The illustrator was one of the students of the Siberian State Medical University.

Kulikov added that indeed there is an ambiguous attitude towards NFT technology in society, for the older generation this is generally an incomprehensible phenomenon, but among the youth, tokens are gaining popularity. “It is important for universities to learn how to work in new conditions and use modern trends for their development,” he added.

Each image from the collection of the Siberian State Medical University is put up for auction – the starting price is 1 ETH – approximately 206,500 rubles.
