British auction house Sotheby’s will allow Ethereum to be traded at its Decentraland auction
Sotheby’s, a 277-year-old British auction house, will allow real-time betting on Ethereum in a virtual exhibition on November 18 at its “headquarters” in Decentraland.
Sotheby’s will be placing bets on Banksy’s Trolley Hunters and Love Is In The Air (2006) from its New York sales floor.
The house has been accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment for art for some time now. Back in April, Sotheby’s conducted the first non-fungible token (NFT) sale of an artist under the pseudonym Pak.
In October, Sotheby’s launched a new platform called Sotheby’s Metaverse, which allows visitors to browse the digital art on display at auction and learn about the collectors and artists behind NFT.
