Todai University of Tokyo plans to launch a series of training programs by the end of this year that will take place in the metaverse.
According to local news outlet The Asahi Shimbun, both high school students and university graduates in the job market can enroll in the course. Students who complete the courses will receive certificates from Todai’s Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School.
This university project is aimed at solving the problem of a shortage of qualified personnel working on “digital transformation” and “advanced technologies”.
The University of Tokyo launches courses in the metaverse
Education in the metaverse will create conditions in which “any person, regardless of age, gender, social status and area of residence, will be able to study technical and information sciences.”
It is likely that the curriculum will also include lectures on cryptocurrencies and NFTs. What’s more, middle and high school students can also enroll in introductory metaverse courses. This will help them get an idea of the potential ways to find jobs in technical fields.
University students and current employees will be offered the opportunity to upgrade their skills through relevant online courses on artificial intelligence, next-generation communications technology and entrepreneurship.
Work will also be carried out to attract more women to the industry, as the lack of women in technical professions has been recognized as a problem in the country.
