Tracker ranks the biggest NFT thefts

Researchers at Comparitech have been tracking NFT thefts for more than two years, ever since the first token was stolen in early 2020. Over the past two years, more than $86 million worth of NFTs have been stolen, according to the study.

Rebecca Moody, head of data science at Comparitech, noted that the theft of NFTs and cryptocurrencies has increased this year. Here is a list of 10 major NFT thefts according to Comparitech:

Animoca Brands subsidiary Lympo lost 165.2 million LMT tokens in a hot wallet hack. At the time of the attack, this was equivalent to $18.7 million.
Farmers World suffered a hack in November 2021 resulting in over $15.7 million in losses.
In April 2022, Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Instagram account was hacked and dozens of NFTs were stolen. The floor price of these NFTs was nearly $14 million.
DragonSB Finance, an NFT gaming project, lost $10 million when its smart contract was hacked in April 2022.
In February 2022, as a result of a phishing incident on OpenSea, attackers stole NFTs worth more than $3.4 million at that time.
In February 2022, TopGoal was attacked and over 4.8 million TMT was transferred from the platform’s hot wallet to the hacker’s address.
In March 2022, over $2 million was stolen from users during the launch of The Shifters collection.
In the same month, $1.8 million was stolen from Alethea AI’s Discord hack.
In May 2022, 29 NFT Moonbirds were stolen through a malicious link. Their cost was estimated at $1.5 million.
The NFT financial platform, Omni, was attacked in July 2022. $1.43 million was stolen.
