Art is a way of understanding and reflecting reality by creating a special product – works that can evoke an emotional response in people.
The term “art” is also used to denote not only works of art, products of artistic activity, but also such concepts as “skill”, “mastery”, “artistry” and the like, manifested in any other field of activity.
In English, the equivalent of our art will be the word art, which has confidently entered our language. Art collaborations, art spaces and other art phenomena also mean something related to the creative process. It should be noted that the semantics of the word art in English is wider than the semantics (what is it?) of art in other languages.
Human consciousness reflects reality in the form of images, thoughts, words and other things. And each person does it in a peculiar way: for example, imagine a table? What is he? Everyone has their own: one has an ordinary dining room, another has a business one, etc. This ability of our consciousness to reflect reality is an extremely useful skill, since it allows us to think.
All aesthetic definitions of beauty come down to two basic views, the first is that beauty is something that exists in itself, one of the manifestations of the absolutely perfect: ideas, spirit, will, God; and another – beauty is the pleasure we receive, which does not have the goal of personal gain.
The first artists were cavemen who painted animals on the walls of their caves. At the dawn of modernity, the Romans and Greeks made a special contribution to the development of art, raising the theater, sculpture and painting to unprecedented heights.
The new understanding of art, which the Renaissance brings, is connected with the revolutionary breaking of the old, feudal-social relations, with the liberation of the producer’s personality from class and guild restrictions that fettered his activity.
Art has a number of important qualities.
1. Sensory perception of the world. Creativity does not imply a rational approach, here everything is created and perceived through feelings.
2. Imagery. Cognition of the world occurs through artistic images, which can be defined as a person’s creative attitude to reality.
3. Subjectivity. Any art is a reflection of the subjective perception of reality by the creator.
4. Completeness. Most of the author’s works are compositionally built and finished results of creativity.
Modern museums and theaters have gone online and stage performances, concerts and exhibitions right on our computer screens. At the beginning of the 21st century, art has become a commodity in a way that it never was.
